At its Dec. 17 combined work session the Wyoming Area School Board approved routine finance and personnel items and authorized a contractor agreement for a rooftop HVAC unit with a not-to-exceed cap.
Finance chair reported receipts — including local earned-income tax and state/federal subsidy payments — and recommended the December payment of $82,733.60 to the LIU for special-education services and other approved payments. The finance report included a recommendation to approve an amended agreement with a vendor for the secondary-center rooftop unit "not to exceed $305,000," pending final written approval by the district solicitor.
The board moved to adopt the finance report; a roll call was held and the motion passed. The finance report also included approval to seek proposals for food-service management and ratified other routine payments; the general ledger total for the period was $1,430,157.64 as read into the record.
On personnel and activities, the board approved numerous appointments and leaves across the district: maternity and medical leaves for several employees (by employee number as listed in the agenda), resignations accepted with regret for a social worker (effective Feb. 4, 2025) and a career-technology teacher (effective Feb. 15, 2025), appointment of Judy Cefalo to Title I reading specialist, step placement for Christine Wagner (Bachelor, Step 6, $45,069), and multiple assistant and volunteer coach appointments for the 2024–25 spring season. The board also approved John McNeil as head girls' softball coach for 2024–25 and accepted his resignation/retirement effective at the end of the season.
Routine building-report items were approved as well, including rescinding two prior appointments, approving medical leave requests (including employee 20435 Dec. 16–Mar. 7, 2025), and approving an increase in hours for a food-service employee.
The rooftop-unit agreement remains contingent on final written approval by the district solicitor before work or payment is authorized.
