York County commissioners approve routine claims, tax corrections and a visitors bureau reappointment

Vendor claims: The board accepted a clerk-reported correction to a vendor claim charging the assessor’s fund; the corrected line moved the amount from $92.94 to $96.44 (an additional $3.50). Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the vendor claims by roll call.
Tax list corrections: County assessor (recorded in the transcript as Kirk Buller) presented two tax corrections: one accelerating taxes for a deceased taxpayer (Mr. Sternberg) and one updating personal property returns after the assessor’s office filed an initial return and later received a depreciation schedule. Commissioners moved and approved the tax list corrections by roll call.
Vehicle exemption: The board approved an application for a motor vehicle tax exemption for Renewed Horizons for a 2018 Ford Fusion; the treasurer (Megan) had recommended approval.
Appointment: The board unanimously approved reappointing Craig Heskett to the York County Visitors Bureau advisory board for a three-year term after a recommendation from Alex Sada, the bureau’s vice chair. Sada also said the visitors bureau has launched an Instagram account ("York County NE") and is redesigning billboards for the first time in about 20 years; the bureau is exploring adding a QR code linking to its website.
Several items were discussed but not decided: notably the assessor’s request for a dedicated vehicle was introduced and discussed but not voted. The assessor will return with usage logs, procurement options and insurer guidance before the board considers a purchase.
The board recessed to convene as the Board of Equalization for a short session (approved minutes and adopted its agenda) and then reconvened as commissioners before adjourning.
