Coach Hernandez presented the material, explaining it builds on secondary-level instruction and focuses on helping children recognize predatory behaviors online and seek adult help. Hernandez said staff found an elementary adaptation of the Ransom Life presentation and recommended implementing that material across elementary campuses beginning with third grade.
The board moved, seconded and voted to approve SHAC's recommendations concerning health-education curriculum and instruction related to human trafficking. The motion passed without recorded opposition.
Staff will implement the curriculum according to SHAC guidance and provide follow-up as campuses begin instruction.
