La Porte — The City Council adopted Ordinance 2025-4038 to amend chapter 22 of the La Porte Code of Ordinances and change rules governing mobile food vendors.
Staff presented targeted edits to the food-truck ordinance adopted October 28, 2024, clarifying plumbing requirements (including an allowance for approved grease-trap discharge), exempting the Bay Forest Golf Course beverage cart from certain requirements, amending generator-language when vendors are located in approved parks, and reducing permit fees for application and annual permits. Staff said application fees for a short-term permit will be $125 and the full-year permit fee would be $500 under the changes. The council approved the amendments by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The ordinance includes enforcement language and misdemeanor penalties (fines up to $2,000 on conviction) consistent with the city’s code framework. Staff said the draft was developed with reference to similar regional models and that an existing mobile food park operator had reviewed the changes and is prepared to install an approved grease trap where necessary.
