The Rensselaer County Legislature used a Dec. 19 special meeting to formally recognize two departing members, adopting separate resolutions commending the Honorable Brian Stahl (P 55824) and the Honorable Lori Kennedy (P 55924) for their service.
The resolution for Brian Stahl noted his election in November 2021, service representing legislative district 6 (City of Rensselaer), tenure as chair of the Health Committee, oversight of the upgrade and relocation of the Rensselaer Senior Center and legislative efforts opposing the SA Dunn landfill. Colleagues presented Stahl with a plaque; Stahl thanked the body and staff for their work and said he appreciated his time on the legislature.
The resolution for Lori Kennedy noted she was appointed in March 2024 to fill a vacancy representing legislative district 1 (City of Troy), cited her work on restoring the Knickerbocker ice rink and referenced her longtime family business, Kennedy's Tavern. Kennedy thanked colleagues and said she intended to remain active in community functions.
Both resolutions were approved later in the meeting by voice vote (each recorded as 17 ayes). The measures are ceremonial acknowledgements of service and do not change county policy or budgets.
