Wendy Altman (Bureau Chief, Adult and Aging Services) and Jenny Horgan (Alzheimer's Association) presented a progress update on DHHS’s public awareness campaign on brain health and Alzheimer’s disease on Nov. 22.
Altman said the work is funded through HB 2 as a one‑time general‑fund appropriation of $500,000. Planned activities include a DHHS campaign web page, radio and TV spots, print and digital ads, social media content, and toolkits for health professionals and community partners. The bureau convened an ambassador committee composed of people living with dementia and family members to review materials and will run pre‑ and post‑campaign surveys to assess changes in knowledge, awareness and intent to seek care.
The campaign will coordinate with public‑health communications staff and community partners (senior centers, libraries, area agencies) for dissemination. Presenters said a final report and post‑campaign survey will be produced at campaign close.
