SNYDER, Texas — Snyder City Council adopted ordinance number 2145 on second reading Dec. 2, adding article 3.10 to Chapter 3 of the city’s building regulations to govern electronic signage.
Councilmembers questioned why applicants would need to provide “a description of the present use, assessed value, and actual value of the land,” with one councilmember asking, “If someone’s applying for the permit, why would they need a description of the present… assessed value of the land?” Staff said that several items listed in the ordinance — such as copies of studies and analyses — are situational and may be required depending on circumstances, and that the previously proposed mandatory traffic‑impact analysis (B5) had been removed following council direction.
After discussion, a motion was made and seconded to adopt ordinance 2145 on second reading as presented; the motion passed by unanimous vote.
The ordinance as adopted will be reflected in the city’s building regulations; staff said they will implement the updated permitting steps and supporting documentation requirements and bring administrative guidance as needed.
