Racine County board adopts $64.3 million levy for 2025 collection

The Racine County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to set the 2024 tax levy, to be collected in 2025, at a total of $64,300,000.

Supervisor Don Trotter presented the levy breakdown, saying the levy "consists of county operations at 52,400,000, debt service at 8,700,000, and Prairie Lakes Library at 3,200,000 for a total levy of 64,300,000." Byron Dean of county finance explained the operational portion is capped by net new construction growth; "for 2024, the net new construction went up 1.58%... That's how we got the $52,300,000 about," he said.

The levy funds county operations, scheduled debt-service payments and the county's contribution to the Prairie Lakes Library. Board members thanked staff and those who attended budget hearings. The clerk noted Supervisor Kelly submitted an electronic vote of "yes"; the roll call recorded the measure as unanimous and the motion carried.
