The District 62 board approved a contract Jan. 21 to restore the roof at Iroquois Community School with a contract amount presented as $1,388,910.
Staff explained the district conducts annual roof scans and plans timely repairs to avoid emergency failures. They said the roofing work was priced through a cooperative procurement (the Omni Purchasing Cooperative) and that the cooperative's competitive process produced the quoted price. In discussion, board members confirmed the roofing scope was limited to reroofing and that interior or other building work would be handled as separate projects.
During the meeting a motion was presented to approve "the contract of Charmco Roofing Systems for roof restoration work at Iroquois Community School in the amount of $1,388,910." The motion was seconded and the board approved the contract by roll-call vote.
Staff said they plan to schedule the work early in the summer to ensure the district is not scheduled late in the season, and they confirmed the cooperative pricing model allows other public entities to use the pre-bid rates.
