Staff recommended awarding RFQ 2024-DD-2 to Mesa Design Group to lead preliminary engineering, surveys, geotechnical work and a public input process to develop concept designs for a nature park at Lake Kensington. Procurement staff reported 17 responses to the solicitation and said city staff and the Lake Kensington task force shortlisted four firms before recommending Mesa.
The design phase will include preliminary engineering, public input and two to three design concepts to be reviewed by the parks board and council before a full construction design contract is presented. Staff cited a working budget of approximately $17,000,000 for the nature-park project. Council approved the award and directed staff to negotiate scope and return with a contract.
