Resident urges action as feral hogs damage Waterleaf Park

"This image, all of that loose soil there, that all used to be grass. This is all new," he said while urging the city to intervene.
Hunter said previous city trapping contracts appear to have expired several years ago and suggested multiple causes for the new hog activity — nearby subdivision construction, road-extension work, and agricultural practices on adjacent farmland. He reported seeing bait placed inside the park, including corn and smashed pumpkins, and said he had contacted police and the county game warden but expected limited enforcement capacity.
He recommended the council consider additional measures beyond trapping and mentioned a recently marketed toxicant endorsed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service as one possible option. Council members thanked him and noted the concern would be logged for staff follow-up; no formal motion or vote resulted from the public comment.
