The Martin County School Board approved multiple procurement and capital items during its action-items session, including an emergency purchase for Warfield Elementary, authorization of previously pulled purchases, and several larger procurements.
Board members discussed agenda item 4.03, described as an emergency purchase related to Warfield Elementary that includes professional learning and supplemental consumable instructional materials for grades 3–5 as recommended by the Bureau of School Improvement. Assistant Superintendent of Finance Carter Morrison clarified there are two account codes and that some costs would align with prior adoptions; Miss Roberts asked whether consumables should come from regular instructional material budgets and the finance office pointed to account strips and documentation on agenda item 4.02.
The board moved and approved item 4.03 and then approved 4.02 after it was pulled to action. The board also approved requisitions over $100,000 and approved technology and construction items including E‑Rate Edge Network Switch Refresh (agenda item 18.05) and the GMP amendment for Stuart Middle School Phase 3 (agenda item 18.06). Those motions were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote.
What’s next: finance staff will post account details in the agenda packet and process purchase orders per approved account strips; capital project teams will proceed with E‑Rate and GMP tasks per existing project plans.
