Board approves revised attorney contract and routine administrative items

At the Nov. 19 organizational meeting, the Bay District Schools board approved several administrative items including a revised contract for the school board attorney, updates to bank resolutions, and an appointment to the Tri County Community Council.

Franklin, the school board attorney, presented the revised contract and noted added language addressing public records, student records, and an E-verify clause. Franklin said he had not taken an increase in four years and requested a 5% increase in his hourly rate to account for rising costs. Board members praised Franklin’s long service; the board moved, seconded and approved the contract by roll call.

The board also adopted updated bank resolutions to change authorized signatures consistent with the continuing roles of the superintendent and the chair and vice chair. Mister Moore was reappointed to serve as the board’s representative to the Tri County Community Council (an intercounty advisory organization serving five counties including Bay). Finally, the short consent agenda — including recommendations for out-of-field teacher certifications — was approved on a roll-call vote.

None of the approvals on the consent agenda contained detailed policy changes; the actions were procedural approvals common at organizational meetings.
