VPS Foundation reports growth, plans roughly $350,000 back to district

A representative of the VPS Foundation told the board the foundation recently moved into new offices at the Franklin Career Center and that renovation costs were covered with earned investment income rather than donor operational funds.
The representative said the foundation expects to give back about $350,000 to the district this year, highlighted increases in classroom grants (from about $60,000 last fiscal year to roughly $100,000–$140,000 in the current period as presented), and said playground contributions doubled to $70,000. The foundation also discussed student support funds, senior scholarships and support for the Kids Time before‑and‑after‑school program (the Kids Time program employs about 83 staff across 15 sites).
The update included recent grant awards the foundation helped secure, including a Werner Foundation award the presenter cited as $15,000 and a $10,000 SpartanNash grant to help pay down student food service accounts. The presenter said the foundation is expanding alumni engagement and event fundraising (galas, golf outings) to increase support.
Board members thanked the presenter for the update and for partnerships between the foundation and district programs. The board did not take formal action on the foundation report.
