Weslaco swears in Emmanuel Espinosa as associate municipal court judge

Emmanuel Espinosa was unanimously approved and sworn in as the City of Weslaco’s associate municipal court judge at the Dec. 17 commission meeting.
The commission first voted to approve a two-year employment agreement for Espinosa, set to expire Dec. 3, 2026. Commissioner Lopez moved to approve the agreement and Mayor Pro Tem Farias seconded; the motion passed on an oral vote recorded as "aye." After the vote, the mayor administered the oath of office.
Espinosa repeated the oath and addressed the commission and audience, thanking family and commission members and saying the role "means a commitment to integrity, fairness, and justice." He added, "Every case, caring about it and being compassionate, and as well as... upholding the law, with dignity and respect for those that come in front of you."
Mayor Gonzales congratulated Espinosa and said the commission trusted him following the interview process. The oath and the approval complete the formal appointment; Espinosa will serve as associate municipal court judge under the terms discussed in the commission packet.
