After the vote, Espinosa repeated the oath and thanked the commission, family and community, saying he will strive to carry out his duties with "integrity, fairness, and justice." "This position is more than just a title," Espinosa said. "It means a commitment to integrity, fairness, and justice."
City staff told commissioners the agreement mirrors the previous judge's contract. Mayor Gonzales congratulated Espinosa and said the commission trusts him to "work hard" and treat people fairly in court.
No amendments were offered during the meeting. The appointment was approved by voice vote; the commission then administered the formal oath and allowed Espinosa to make brief remarks about his priorities and gratitude.
The commission did not set a date for a formal investiture beyond the oath given at the meeting; any future administrative details or assignments will be handled through court administration and city staff.
