District staff presented the district strategic plan materials and a highlights document, summarizing progress across five strategies and outlining priorities for the coming year.
Speaker 5 told the board Strategy 1 (design, develop and implement buildings and technology) has one action completed and another focused on safety and security training; the district will apply for the state safety recognition program and intends to assemble its safety team in September. Strategy 2 emphasizes social‑emotional learning and a school‑based mental‑health therapist at the PK–5 building, which staff called a "huge" addition. Strategy 3 focuses on recruiting and retaining staff: the classified salary schedule was updated, the Mentors You Matter program has been expanded at the K–12 level and the district will continue a 0.1 instructional coach from ESU 9 to support new teachers.
On instruction (Strategies 4 and 5), staff described a shift to the IXL diagnostic assessment for progress monitoring and targeted interventions within an MTSS framework. Speaker 5 said improvements may take three to five years to show in state assessments but argued the plan sets a clear, multi‑year path toward improved student outcomes.
Staff offered to provide more detailed assessment results at a later meeting and emphasized teamwork between administrators and teachers to implement the layered supports.
