Superintendent: new PK–5 building finished under budget; auctions and transfers planned for old schools
Summary
Superintendent reported final construction costs at about $39.86 million, roughly $824,836 under the contracted amount, said auctions of surplus equipment are underway and that the city will take possession of Stoddard and the preschool on Oct. 8 following title work.
Superintendent Jason updated the board on the district’s facilities transition and final construction accounting for the new PK–5 building.
Jason said the project was contracted at $40,183,747.06 and that, after final payouts, the district’s total came in at $39,858,905 — about $824,836 under the contract amount. He said the district is awaiting a geothermal rebate the administration conservatively estimates at $500,000; that rebate is pending paperwork and expected to be heard in October or November.
The superintendent also summarized recent and planned surplus equipment auctions at closed buildings and said the city will take possession of Stoddard and the preschool on Oct. 8 once title work is complete. Auditors from Dana F. Cole will conduct the district’s annual audit on Sept. 23–24.
What’s next: the district will finalize remaining payouts, track the geothermal rebate paperwork, and complete the surplus auctions for Lincoln and Paddock buildings.
