JB Stevens students performed for the Greenfield-Central School Board during the Nov. 11 meeting as the district marked Veterans Day.

Amy Sutton, principal of JB Stevens, introduced about 20 student leaders from kindergarten through third grade and described the school's year-long work preparing the Veterans Day program with music teacher Mary Bowie. Sutton said the district's eight schools stage Veterans Day programs and praised students' efforts.

Board members and administrators applauded the students, and administration later described standing ovations for veterans at the high school program. The board thanked JB Stevens for opening the meeting with the performance.

No action items were associated with the spotlight; the presentation was a ceremonial opening to the regular meeting.
