The Greenfield-Central School Board on Nov. 11 voted to approve several measures the board said will advance district facilities, safety and operations.
In formal action, the board approved a resolution to establish the Greenfield School Police Department; administration said the next step is to post the position and hire a chief of police. The board also adopted Exhibit A (an additional appropriations resolution) and Exhibit B (the final bond resolution) to set parameters for a general-obligation bond sale and to allow the district to spend borrowed funds. Administration confirmed proof of publication for the hearing (Oct. 30) and reported no remonstrances were filed before the hearing.
The board ratified the 2024–25 collective bargaining agreement with the classroom teachers association after several weeks of collaborative negotiations, allowing the administration to report the ratification to the state.
The board authorized administration to complete a purchase agreement for a property in Greenfield to house an early-learning (0–3) program supported by a state grant; administrators said the purchase includes negotiated inspection and remediation contingencies. The board also granted permission for administration to interview architects and engineers to develop schematic plans for the district-owned property purchased from the Frost family in December 2018.
Multiple routine motions passed without substantive debate: approval of minutes from Oct. 21, the claims docket, a set of course additions (including two courses cleared by IU Kokomo), second reading and approval of five board policies, acceptance of a $10,550 donation of four soccer goals from the Greenfield Area Soccer Club, participation in the state fuel hedging program administered with the Indiana Bond Bank, and approval of amended administrative contracts for the 2024–25 school year.
Administrators said the board approved an "Amplify partner use contribution intent" form that signals Hancock County high schools’ planned partnership for roughly 30,000 square feet of technical education space with Ivy Tech.
Votes were recorded by voice ("Aye") throughout the meeting; no roll-call tallies with individual member votes were recorded in the meeting transcript.
What’s next: administration said it will post and proceed with hiring for the school police chief; the district will proceed with the bond-sale steps specified in Exhibit B; and the early-learning property purchase will continue to closing subject to inspections and negotiated remediation terms.
