Facilities committee members reported that a building-envelope specialist identified the roof as a potential cause of recent interior mold observations; contractors completed AHERA testing, took core samples (reported as dry) and began cleaning UV units and ducts. Committee members described targeted HVAC work, replacement of a district salt truck and a food-service freezer at Barclow, and ongoing coordination with the district’s PR specialist to prepare communications and video materials ahead of a planned referendum outreach effort.
Board members asked for the full roof and remediation report and a debrief with the contractor, and pressed for clarity on whether temperature testing was done to evaluate the relationship between roof surface temperature and interior wood moisture. Facilities staff said some moisture readings were elevated near UV outlets, suggesting HVAC/airflow contributed to localized moisture and that the district is pursuing both HVAC remediation and roof investigation steps.
