Board approves personnel and finance items, including $4.86 million bills list and RFP for social-emotional learning coach

The Freehold Township School District board approved multiple personnel and policy items and accepted finance committee recommendations, including a bills-and-claims list totaling $4,857,482.10 and an RFP to hire a social-emotional learning coach for the 2024–2025 school year.

At the start of the personnel and policy section, board member Mr. Gargiulo moved to place a package of items on the agenda that included first readings of policy (section 3), abolishing policies, resignations and adjustments to resignation dates, new employment and interim supervisor appointments, salary adjustments, leave of absence requests, substitute appointments and related personnel actions (items 1–22). The motion was seconded and the board took a roll-call vote; the chair announced “Motion carries.”

During the finance and facilities portion, the committee chair moved a slate of fiscal items that were approved, including the secretary/treasurer report, the bills-and-claims list reviewed by Renaud totaling $4,857,482.10, travel and related expense listings and updates, transfers and amended transfers, approval of out-of-district contracts (including MOESC), PTO donations, and acceptance of an RFP for a social-emotional learning coach. The chair clarified that the coach’s RFP scope focuses on training teachers (not student services) and that the coach will consult with the behavioral threat assessment team and provide classroom coaching and modeling services.

Board business also included routine committee reports and announcements. There were no public speakers during the two public participation periods.

Actions recorded at the meeting included approval of the prior meeting minutes, approval of the personnel and policy items moved by Mr. Gargiulo, approval of curriculum-related home instruction, and approval of finance items including the bills-and-claims total. The meeting then adjourned by voice vote.
