Barnegat board proclaims thanks to departing members, honors students and community donors

At its Dec. 17 meeting the Barnegat Township School District Board read a proclamation thanking Bonnie Levy and Bruno Iamante for their service from January 2022 through December 2024.
The proclamation states the board "publicly acknowledges the dedication with which Miss Bonnie Levy and Mr. Bruno Iamante did faithfully and conscientiously perform their duties as members of the Board of Education" and directs that the resolution become part of the permanent minutes and be reproduced for the honorees.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Latwiss and board members also recognized long‑time staff member Peggy Sobonski on her retirement after 31 years of service. The board presented Upstander recognitions—an initiative that highlights students who demonstrate district pride and generosity—naming multiple students including Mario Nunez Lobo, Michelle Yolanes, Joseph Jordan, McKinley Krogman, Carson Tukovsky, Jessica Estrich and Lucas Molina. The board thanked community partners and local donors, including Lefty’s Tavern and Vinnie’s Pizzeria, for supporting holiday events and student programs.
A Donahue School 4th‑grade chorus performed "Blitzen's Boogie" during the meeting, and the board thanked staff and volunteers who supported recent district events such as Paws for a Cause and a community toy drive.
