Lawrence Township Education Foundation awards $46,354 to 26 classroom projects

Bonnie Giglio, executive director of the Lawrence Township Education Foundation, presented the board with the foundation’s fall grant awards, saying the volunteer review committee had funded 26 proposals totaling $46,354.
Giglio said the grants support social‑emotional learning, arts and music programs, classroom technology, makerspace equipment and classroom resources across elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools. Examples the foundation highlighted included outdoor sensory paths for elementary schools and Slackwood, an amplified learning portable speaker system for Eldridge Park, a $9,341 grant to upgrade the Lawrence Intermediate School sound system, and classroom instrument and makerspace investments.
Charles Snellings and other LTEF members read additional grant summaries and named recipients from across the district. Grant-funded projects named in the presentation included sensory rooms, ukulele units, flexible seating, a math pilot program for middle-school learners and multimedia equipment for high school students.
Giglio invited recipients forward for recognition and photos and encouraged teachers to apply for the spring cycle, which opens in a few weeks and closes Feb. 18. Board members thanked LTEF volunteers and donors for supporting classroom innovation.
The presentation did not involve a board vote; foundation awards were presented for information and recognition.
