Waltz said salaries and benefits for the recent three‑month period ran about $3.5–$3.6 million and that payroll for September through November is tracking at 23.14% of the annual budget, below a three‑month target of 25% for that period. He said the district expects levy payments to begin in January and that property tax receipts will add to revenue next month.
On enrollment, Waltz reported a district total of 3,813 students — nine more than last month and 40 more year‑to‑date. He explained the district is funded in units roughly tied to classroom counts, citing approximately 188 funded units; per‑unit revenue varies depending on staffing mix.
Waltz also discussed proposed state changes to transportation funding and a potential centralized routing system (a software referenced as 'Bus Right'). He cautioned that legislative changes could produce winners and losers depending on how small‑district ridership factors are handled and said the district is monitoring the proposals.
Trustees did not take policy action on finance items during the meeting; Waltz indicated staffing and budget projections are tracking within plan.
