The Beatrice Public Schools Board of Education handled routine business and several facility actions at its Nov. 11 meeting.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from Oct. 14, 2024, accounts payable, budget receipts and expenditures for October, committee minutes and a second reading of graduation requirements. Treasurer Jason reported October bills of $699,188.96, payroll of $1,834,186.99 and total expenditures of $2,533,375.85; general fund revenue for the month was $1,600,830.97.
On facilities, the board approved a $13,612.93 quote from Tech Masters to repair a failing cooler unit at Beatrice High School. Dr. Nielsen explained the freezer unit had "a bad unit" and that funds from the school lunch program would cover the cost. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also voted to put a metal building and several portable classrooms at Paddock Lane up for sale through an online auction. Superintendent Jason Alexander said the city indicated it would be acceptable if buyers removed the structures in a timely manner; proceeds will be returned to the district's general fund or building fund.
Other business: the board approved the superintendent evaluation and heard updates on student activities and special education. The board set its next regular meeting for Dec. 9, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the administration building and adjourned that night.
