Town manager lists community events, DOT to hold Oct. 8 public meeting on US 3 improvements

Assistant Town Manager Gene Walker used the council’s Sept. 20 meeting to list upcoming community events and public notices. He invited residents to join Bedford’s 275th anniversary committee (next meeting Sept. 28) and promoted an open house for the police and fire departments (Oct. 3), the firefighters’ fundraising ball (Oct. 4), the Joppa Hill fall fair (Oct. 5) and the Friends of the Bedford Library concert series (Oct. 6).
Walker also announced a New Hampshire Department of Transportation public information meeting about proposed transportation improvements to a 1.7‑mile section of US Route 3 (South River Road) in Bedford. The DOT meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Bedford High School; doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation beginning at 6 p.m. Walker and councilors encouraged residents to attend to review the project area and ask questions.
Councilors followed with committee updates and other town business, including conservation commission items, zoning amendment discussions from the planning board, and progress at the Stephen Buswell Community Center.
