Town staff presented the water budget, saying it is “down slightly” from the 2024 total of $520,014 and that “the full amount is offset with user fees” including water usage and fire-suppression fees, so the proposal carries no tax impact, staff said. During discussion a board member asked whether the budget includes funds for outreach to increase hookups; staff replied there is money available for outreach but no formal marketing plan yet. A board member moved to accept the budget, and the motion passed (vote announced as 5–0). The budget will go to the larger budget meeting scheduled the next evening.
On the Savage Way entrance to the police building, staff reported temporary stop signs were installed after construction in the adjacent subdivision led to more vehicle and foot traffic and several close calls. The police chief recommended making the signs permanent. A board member moved to tentatively approve installation of two permanent stop signs—one in each direction—contingent on confirming authority to place a town sign on that road; the motion passed (vote announced as 5–0).
The board also approved the consent agenda, which included the accounts payable manifest for the week of Dec. 5, 2024; draft minutes of Nov. 4, 2024; supplemental property-tax warrants; a veteran’s tax-credit application; administrative abatements; and several appointments. The consent agenda passed with one abstention.
What happens next: the adopted water budget will be considered at the town’s budget meeting; staff will confirm whether Savage Way is an accepted town road and advise whether the town or a developer must place permanent signage.
