Board approves preschool rates, opens open-enrollment window and adopts ASBA policy revisions

The Osborne School District governing board approved a set of administrative items, including keeping preschool tuition rates unchanged for the 2025–26 school year, approving open-enrollment capacity to allow online registration to open earlier, and adopting ASBA policy revisions on second reading.

Colleen Toscano presented the preschool tuition item and said the recommendation is to maintain the current fee structure; Stephanie Sotomayor, director of preschool programs, told the board the district used scholarships and other funding to support families and that no major enrollment losses tied to last year’s rate adjustment were reported. The motion to approve the unchanged tuition rates passed on a voice vote.

On open enrollment, staff confirmed online registration opened earlier in December and explained the February 1 window that allows out-of-district families to submit applications for next year. District staff said completed registration packets (birth certificate, shot records, proof of residency) will be reviewed and that random selection would be used if interest exceeds capacity in priority groups; district staff indicated families should expect notifications in the first week of February.

The board also completed a second reading of ASBA policy revisions and voted to approve the updates as presented.

All three items were voted by the board during the meeting and approved by voice vote.
