The Commission for the Development and Oversight of Public Funds of the South‑Central region of the House of Representatives approved Joint Resolution of the House 638 on June 18, 2024, to designate a segment of Puerto Rico Highway 510 in Juana Díaz as "Fernando Naro Rodríguez Cruz," the commission chair Estrella Martínez Soto said during the committee's public final‑consideration session.
The measure would name PR‑510 from kilometer 1.4 to kilometer 1.9 in the municipality of Juana Díaz in honor of Fernando Naro Rodríguez Cruz and would authorize the installation of signage and the pairing (pareo) of funds necessary for the signs and related purposes. Chair Martínez told members the commission had solicited explanatory memorials from agencies and organizations with interest in the matter and, after reviewing recommendations and ponencias, the commission recommended approval.
Edgar González Moreno, director of the commission, told the panel the bill and its amendments had been circulated electronically to members on June 16, 2024 and confirmed no additional amendments were received before the session. The commission adopted the committee's circulated enmiendas without objection and instructed technical staff to include them in the final text to be considered.
During the roll call for final approval, members recorded their votes on the record (including Representative Lizzy Burgos Muñiz, Representative Jorge A. Rivera Zegarra, Representative Héctor Ferrer Santiago and Chair Estrella Martínez Soto). The chair reported the result as five votes in favor, zero against and zero abstentions and asked the director to prepare, as soon as possible, the certification of the public‑consideration session and the approved text for signature and presentation with the corresponding positive report required by House rules.
The session closed after the certification instructions were given and the commission moved on to its next scheduled meeting.
