An unidentified meeting facilitator told the advisory committee that a press release from the governor’s office indicated Governor Healy had signed a climate law intended to advance the clean energy transition and ease permitting for projects.
The facilitator said the law “goes in hand with creation of jobs and lower costs, and there's historic reforms for permitting of clean energy,” and suggested committee members keep that development in mind as it may intersect with MassDEP’s permitting and site‑cleanup work.
Separately, the facilitator announced tentative agency office hours for Dec. 18 (listed as TBD) and said the session could be used to discuss the draft COM 24 soils policy if that draft is released before then. The meeting host asked participants to “hold the date.”
MassDEP also plans a hybrid meeting of the Waste Site Advisory Committee on Feb. 20, to be hosted at 100 Cambridge Centre (likely the 2nd floor) with Zoom available for remote participants. The facilitator asked committee members for feedback on hosting the session in a hybrid format.
The announcements were informational; no formal votes or policy adoptions took place during this portion of the meeting.
