Selectmen hear early completion of rural road program and IT migration grant

Town staff told the Greenland Board of Selectmen on Sept. 9 that the town’s planned rural road program was completed by Labor Day—about two months earlier than usual—and that approximately $63,000 remains in the contract to apply to additional small projects or preparation work for next year.
The administrator said bids were released earlier this season, enabling contractors to work during favorable summer months, and that the town will review Altus engineering cost estimates during the budget process to prioritize next year’s projects.
Staff also reported that server repairs were completed, the town’s dot‑gov migration is finished and new wireless access points are installed. The town received a $5,000 licensing grant from the Overwatch Foundation to assist with Microsoft licensing over the next three years; staff said the donation will help pay for business‑premium licenses and provide town email for elected and appointed officials.
Officials noted remaining IT needs, including a transition from Windows 10 and upcoming decisions on phone systems and printer leases (a five‑year lease ends in 2026) and recommended planning and an RFP in 2025 for equipment replacement.
