Board hears updates on Apache Trail, Union Road repairs and other stormwater projects

At the March 11 meeting staff provided a series of project updates on capital improvements and recent maintenance work.

Speaker 4 reported Apache Trail stream work and installation of two box culverts cannot proceed until a conflicting water line is moved and testing is complete; the contractor has a 30‑day window and the work will likely carry to the next budget year. For Union Road, staff described emergency stream work and shoulder rebuilding after snowmelt and heavy rain; crews placed signs at night for safety and made repairs over two days, leaving the site stabilized.

Staff also recounted work at neighborhood locations: Meadowlark Drive access and signage changes, creek/swale work in Hillwood with targeted ditching to confine flows and planned outfall pipe repairs, and remediation at 317 Pantana after an illicit discharge onto an adjacent property at Doris Farms (a berm was installed to keep runoff on site). Staff said Callisto Ponds was temporarily pumped in January and will need a longer‑term remedy. Speakers indicated Collins Crossing/Callister Road swale and outfall repairs remain delayed due to weather and contractor responsiveness; staff said they are following up weekly.

Public outreach and community support showed up in project context: staff plans to coordinate with HOAs on long‑term maintenance agreements and has offered mutual aid to neighboring Sumner County events after helping an urban 5K last year.

The board did not take formal votes on capital projects at this meeting; updates were informational and staff will continue contractor oversight and follow up on delayed work.
