Bolivar council approves plan of services to annex about 300-acre Watson Farm industrial parcel

Bolivar city council voted to approve the plan of services necessary to annex about 300 acres of the Watson Farm parcel near Highway 64 into the city’s limits to prepare the land for potential industrial development. Staff said the option agreement gives the city first rights for the parcel and that the option term is five years, renewable every five years.
A staff presentation described the property’s adjacency to the city industrial park and said annexation and city utility planning position the site to attract future industry. Council members asked about availability of water and sewer service and the need to extend utilities; staff said they will not extend major infrastructure until a tenant is confirmed, but water and industrial park utilities are nearby.
The motion to approve the plan of services was made, seconded and carried by the council. Staff said no immediate development commitment was being made and that if the parcel did not sell, it would revert to county control under the terms of the option agreement.
