Bolivar council accepts $5.57 million low bid for Sand Beach Lake LPRF project

Mayor Julian A. McKillick Sr. announced that the low bid came from GTG (listed as GTG Grinder/Taber & Grinder) at $5,568,948.27 and said the award followed the recommendation of the city’s engineer (A2H). Councilman Gold moved to accept the bid and Miss Ray seconded; the motion carried.
The scope of the LPRF (Land and Water Conservation Fund‑style local parks/recreation funding referenced at the meeting) includes a pavilion, amphitheater and boat ramp at Sand Beach Lake. The councilman and staff said the pavilion structure will be bid separately to obtain a better vendor price; that pavilion bid is scheduled to be advertised and returned in the next procurement cycle.
City staff said the city’s 50 percent local match for the grant will come from the balance of the city’s operating (opera) funds. A preconstruction meeting was scheduled for the end of the month; pending administrative checks, construction is expected to begin after that meeting.
What’s next: staff will present the detailed bid documents to the council for formal contract execution and will bring the separate pavilion bid to the council for approval next month.
