Oklahoma Commerce specialist briefs Pryor trustees on incentives, workforce and site tools

Charlotte, a Northeast regional community development specialist with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, briefed the board on the department’s role and resources for communities seeking primary‑job recruitment, incentives and infrastructure funding.
Charlotte said the Commerce team handles both business recruitment and community development and can run an incentives analysis for projects that meet thresholds. “If you are adding more than 15 jobs or spending more than $250,000, stop and call me first,” she said, describing the Business Expansion and Improvement Program and the more commonly used Quality Jobs incentive, which she said can reimburse communities up to 5% per new employee over a period of years depending on eligibility.
She outlined prep funding for infrastructure in industrial parks, CDBG assistance for site improvements, and the locateOK.com portal for listing available commercial and industrial properties. Charlotte encouraged regular use of the Commerce portal and advised communities to assign one representative to monitor RFPs and respond to site consultant requests.
The presentation was offered as a resource; trustees thanked the department and asked staff to follow up on portal registration and incentive analyses if development leads arise.
