Council members asked staff to detail what the city has received during the mayor’s previous year in office, including whether Grand Gateway helped secure any grants and how the organization’s grant coordinator role differs from grant writing. "Grand Gateway doesn't give us grants. They give us the opportunity to qualify for other grants that we wouldn't have qualified without their membership," the mayor said.
Members pressed for accountability after a previously discussed grant (which would have supported a water project) did not proceed to implementation. Staff agreed to follow up and report back. Council also discussed the city’s contribution to Pellevan (the region’s transit/van service). Mayor and staff said Pryor pays roughly $32,000 for Pellevan services and that Grand Gateway helps administer some rural‑grant programs that fund that work.
Council voted to approve the membership expense and asked staff to return to a future meeting with a list of specific grant opportunities pursued and any follow‑up materials from prior grant efforts.
