Summary
The Planning and Zoning Board voted to recommend that the city council approve a rezoning request by Limestone Construction LLC to convert agricultural land to a four-unit multifamily (RM) site; proponents said the change fits the city27s comprehensive plan and will help local housing and employers, while staff noted a past fire-department concern about water pressure.

The Planning and Zoning Board voted to recommend that the city council approve a rezoning application from Limestone Construction LLC that would change property zoned Agricultural (AG) to Residential Multifamily (RM) to allow a four-unit apartment development.
Mayor Doyle, speaking during the public hearing, said the request "fits the needs of what we need" and pointed to the city27s comprehensive plan, which he said voters adopted in 2018. He said the project is intended to produce "moderately priced" units that would help local businesses find workers and noted that the development was presented as not subsidized or low-income housing.
Doyle also relayed a single concern raised by the fire chief about water pressure in that portion of the north corridor, saying staff "think when they ran that line through there a couple summers ago that that would take care of that." The board did not receive other public opposition during the hearing.
After brief board discussion about whether the application aligned with the comprehensive plan, a motion to recommend approval was made, seconded and carried. The chair emphasized the planning board provides a recommendation only; the rezoning still requires final approval at a future city council meeting.
Next steps: the application will be forwarded to city council for formal consideration and vote; the board noted interested neighbors may contact councilors before that meeting. No formal conditions or amendments were recorded by the board during its recommendation.
