Council approves release of unused 1950s waterline easement in Home Builders Subdivision

The Claremore City Council approved a request to release a historic waterline easement in Lot 14 of the Home Builders Subdivision after city staff said the easement—granted in the 1950s—contained no operational infrastructure and had a house built across it in the 1970s.
City staff explained that as records are reviewed from the tornado-path cleanup and other recent work, the city has identified multiple older easements and right-of-way anomalies that require correction. The staff member said that in this case there is no waterline in the easement and no infrastructure to maintain, and that releasing the easement would clear title for the current property owner.
Council moved, seconded and approved the release after staff answered location questions about the easement area (off South Maryland within the Home Builders addition). The staff credited Kyle and other team members for reviewing records and maps to identify easement issues for several properties.
