The Claremore City Council on Tuesday approved a $50,000 budget amendment to complete the Claremore Expo generator upgrade and voted to award the installation contract to Stronghand LLC.
City staff member Miss Andrews told the council the generator project has been underway for roughly two years and rising costs left the city short about $50,000 to finish work. She said Rogers County approved $200,000 in ARPA funds to support the project and had paid half of that amount with the remainder expected within about 60 days.
Staff recommended awarding the installation contract to Stronghand LLC for a base bid of $235,668 plus change orders and add-alternate number 1. Garrett, a city staff member present for technical questions, outlined site work that remains, including pouring a pad, moving a gas line and coordinating electrical hookups so the generator can be placed when it arrives. Andrews said the generator is on order and expected to arrive earlier than anticipated, and staff hopes construction will be completed by year-end.
Councilors moved and seconded approval of both the $50,000 amendment and the contract award. A roll call recorded affirmative votes from the council and the motions passed.
The council’s action authorizes staff to finalize the contract with Stronghand LLC and proceed with the remaining site work; the project completion target is by the end of the year, subject to delivery and construction timing.
