Morristown council adopts consent agenda, amends order to swear in officers and approves 17 resolutions

The Morristown Town Council convened Dec. 10, 2024, confirmed a quorum, adopted the consent agenda, amended the order of business to swear in four new patrol officers and later adopted 17 resolutions presented as a block.
The clerk announced two items on the consent agenda and the council voted to adopt them. The council then amended the agenda to allow a swearing-in and presentation by the police department and approved that amendment by voice vote. After public comment and several discussion items, the clerk introduced 17 resolutions for adoption; no member pulled any resolution for separate consideration and the council voted to adopt the block of 17 resolutions (motion carries).
During the meeting council members also heard public comment on tree plantings and funding, the Immigrant Trust Act and a resident-led campaign for a town resolution, and neighborhood concerns about a proposed hospital expansion including questions about the scope of a hospital-funded traffic study. No ordinance readings or adoptions were on the Dec. 10 agenda.
The council adjourned with seasonal holiday wishes.
