During its Oct. 22 meeting the Morristown Town Council adopted multiple resolutions by grouped motion and then considered certain resolutions individually.
A grouped motion adopted resolutions R-162, 164, 165, 166, 167 and 169 by roll call. Later, Resolution R-163 (amending renewal of plenary retail consumption license number 1424-33-022-015 issued to DeHart Associates LLC, trading as Tajmoo Homestead for 2024–2025, subject to conditions) was considered separately. On R-163 the roll-call votes were recorded as: Councilwoman Foster — yes; Councilman Anacone — no; Councilwoman Lindsey — yes; Councilman Filipchuk — no; Councilman Russo — yes; Councilman Silva — yes; Council President Umbria — yes. The motion carried and the resolution was adopted.
Resolution R-168 authorized the town clerk to complete the best-practices public meeting certification form. Councilors asked what would raise the town's score (reported as 39 out of a possible 46.5 points) and whether missed items were material. Administration explained the statutory budget timeline (end of March/April) and said Morristown typically introduces the budget later in the spring to thoroughly vet proposals, that there is no statutory penalty for the town's timing, and cited a local exception where certain exempt public-works and sewer superintendents receive overtime parity pay. R-168 was adopted by roll call.
Why this matters: R-163 affects a local liquor-license holder’s renewal conditions; R-168 documents the town’s compliance reporting for state best-practice benchmarks, which can factor into state aid decisions.
Next steps: Administration indicated it will continue efforts to address checklist items where desirable and that budget timing may be adjusted in future years; no further administrative deadlines were recorded in the transcript.
