Former parking authority worker says final paycheck withheld; mayor pledges review

Jackie Thompson, a former Morristown Parking Authority employee, told the town council Aug. 6 she left the authority May 15 and still had not received her final paycheck. Thompson said she informed Director Nicole Fox that she would not transition to an automated parking system and later learned Fox was withholding her final pay while asserting Thompson owed $5,000.
"She's saying I owe the company $5,000, but we'll just keep your last check and call it even," Thompson said, adding that she has "a boatload of evidence" to substantiate her claims. She said she sought redress through the parking authority commission and that staff at a recent commission meeting called police when she attended.
In response, the mayor told Thompson he did not have direct authority over the parking authority but said he would have the business administrator and town attorney investigate why Thompson's paycheck had not been released and follow up with her. The mayor asked Thompson to provide contact information to the business administrator for follow-up.
The council record contains the public allegation and the mayor’s pledge to inquire; no on-the-record resolution or vote about the payroll dispute was taken at the meeting.
