City opens final storm-recovery RFPs, seeks permanent debris-removal consultant

City staff explained that debris from yards (vegetation, fences, sheds separated from vegetation) will be processed differently and that loads will be documented and taken to appropriate waste facilities; costs for processing construction debris were described as dependent on the receiving facility.
The manager said FEMA requires issuing an RFP for a permanent consultant even though the city had already hired a consultant for the initial 90-day response. A committee reviewed proposals and will verify documentation, then notify unsuccessful bidders.
Next steps: staff will finalize RFP details, notify bidders, award contracts and begin multi-pass removal and disposal operations as contracts are executed.
