Del City Council approved declaring a broad list of city assets surplus and authorized disposition methods, including resale, auction or scrapping, and approved a separate donation of six surplus police vehicles (with emergency equipment) to Metro Technology Center for use in basic police officer certification driving training.
City staff said items would be evaluated for resale (including listing on an online auction platform) or scrapped where appropriate. The surplus list includes fire department vehicles, public works equipment, police vehicles, two 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycles and 18 Apple iPads previously used by the police department. A council member asked where items would go and whether they would be auctioned or sold; staff said they would evaluate each item for resale or scrapping through an online system.
The council moved and voted to approve declaring the items surplus and, in a separate motion, to donate the six police vehicles to Metro Tech; both motions passed unanimously. The city manager was authorized to finalize disposition consistent with the council approvals.
