The Del City Municipal Services Authority voted Aug. 19 to replace a locked-up pump motor at water well No. 4 under contract with Frontier (not to exceed $52,000) and to purchase carbon filter media from Cabot North Americas Inc. for an amount not to exceed $186,000 to address taste and odor problems at the Del City water treatment plant.
The pump-motor item (well No. 4, Lariat and Southeast 27th) was presented as a maintenance necessity because the motor was locked up and the well was inoperable; a motion to approve the replacement under the maintenance contract with Frontier Logging/Locking Corp was moved and approved by recorded trustee votes.
On the filter-media purchase, trustees discussed that filter-media replacement provides an opportunity to inspect drains, valves and underlayment while the work disturbs the media. The purchase was presented as part of RFP 0207-approved contracting, and trustees asked staff to make sure drain conditions are checked during the replacement. The motion to purchase carbon media from Cabot North Americas for up to $186,000 passed by recorded vote.
Both actions were recorded as approved by trustees; staff noted follow-up steps to schedule work and to coordinate inspections and permitting.
