The Del City City Council opened and closed a public hearing on Sept. 3 to finalize the closeout of Community Development Block Grant number 18515 (CDBG CR 20), which staff said funded multiple projects completed in 2023.
Assistant community development staff and the city manager told the council the grant provided funding for the city to purchase the Middale Youth and Family Services Building (relocating it from Midwest City), to provide utility assistance to citizens and to hire a contractor to pave the Eagle Lake walking trails and parking lot. "We received over $800,000 throughout the course of this grant," the city manager said during the hearing, and staff acknowledged multiple rounds of technical assistance from the Department of Commerce in administering the complex application.
Staff thanked specific contributors including development and public-works staff for executing the projects; the city said the hearing is required to close out the grant and that the projects are complete. No public speakers requested additional comment during the closeout hearing.
Next steps: staff will proceed with final administrative closeout paperwork required by the Department of Commerce to record final expenditures and complete grant compliance checks.
