Del City used part of its July 1 meeting to present community recognitions and small-business promotion awards.
Wendell Kluge, president of Del City North Neighborhood Watch, presented a certificate of appreciation to David Ellis, supervisor of the Del City Streets Department, for upgrading and improving neighborhood watch signage. The watch group noted the multi-month effort and presented pizza to crews in thanks.
The Economic Development Authority named Mediterranean Grill as the July 'Dining in Del City' recipient. Karina Pulver, the city's marketing specialist, presented the certificate and arranged for the mayors coin and photos to be delivered to the business when the owner could not attend that evening.
In a separate presentation the police chief awarded Communications Specialist Lucy Renaud a Del City Police Department Achievement Award for performing CPR on an elderly man in a Walmart parking lot on June 24, 2024. The chief noted Renaud had performed similar lifesaving aid previously and commended her professionalism; council approved the presentation by motion.
