City leaders said Davis has served with the department for more than two decades, including 12 years at the rank of captain, and will take on responsibilities for fire investigations, inspections and the department’s fire prevention bureau. Councilmembers and the mayor praised Davis and noted the city will finalize paperwork and have it notarized.
Mayor and officials asked Davis to sign the required documents after the oath and made light comments celebrating the promotion. Following the swearing-in, the mayor invited the council to recess to the Economic Development Authority meeting.
