Del City council approves routine contracts, surplus declarations and jail services agreement; FEMA training and janitorial addendum authorized

The Del City City Council on July 15 approved a series of routine motions and agreements during a regularly scheduled meeting.
By recorded vote, the council approved the minutes of its July 1 meeting and voted to receive a presentation from VFW Post 9969 recognizing members of the Del City Fire Department's rescue crew for a swift‑water lifesaving operation on June 2, 2024. The council declared specified vehicle extrication equipment surplus and authorized disposition. City staff explained the extrication tools are older non‑battery systems; council approved an interlocal mutual‑aid agreement with the City of Spencer to transfer the equipment for continued use under codified authority.
Councilmembers also voted to amend the janitorial contract with Indigo Cleaning Services for City Hall, the Police Department and Public Works Administration, capping the addendum at $42,860.80 and authorizing the mayor to endorse the document. The council approved out‑of‑state travel and training for Major Mike Arterberry to attend a five‑day FEMA Center for Domestic Preparedness course in Anniston, Alabama (July 28–Aug. 2); FEMA will cover course fees, airfare, lodging and meals.
In other business, the council approved the Oklahoma County Jail Services Agreement for fiscal year 2024–2025 and declared the items listed in Exhibit A of the agenda surplus to the city's needs, authorizing final disposition by the city manager. Most motions passed by unanimous recorded vote as shown in the meeting record.
The council adjourned the session and convened the Del City Municipal Services Authority to continue related administrative business.
